It’s always news worthy to me when a first occurs in our sport.
Soooo, we congratulate brand new trainer Kacy Fogden and 4kg claimer Lachlan Neindorf who both kicked off what hopefully will be long and fruitful careers with wins on Wednesday.
Fogden saddled HAPPY TWO THOUSAND (Love Conquers All-La Zap) for his very first race start and the 2YO, who cost just $40,000 as a yearling, finished too well on debut to win at the Sunny Coast.
He had been on pace all the way in the 2 & 3YO Mdn and just out-ground fellow juvenile Go Deep over the concluding stages.
Michael Hellyer rode the 2Y0 home to the narrow win. As for Fogden, it was her lucky 13th runner as a trainer.
She is based at the glorious training facility at Canungra in south Queensland that is owned by AQUIS Farms.
Meanwhile, down a long way south of the Sunshine Coast, at the Balaklava track in South Australia, young 4kg claimer Lachy Neindorf steered 3YO filly SOPHINA DIVA (Akeed Mofeed-Sophina) home to her first win.
With it also being Neindorf’s maiden success, it ended what had been a frustrating 4 x placings as a fresh young hoop prior to his debut win yesterday.
He had her humming along in 2nd until they turned and quickly dashed clear, hugging the paint and punching her right out to a 1.5 lengths victory for trainers Richard and Chantelle Jolly.
The on track caller made mention of how good a ride it was.
We wish both these newcomers to the winners’ list, a long and wonderful life in the sport.
